| OVERVIEW |
| Yoga is the union of body, mind
and spirit. Through the practice of Hatha Yoga we use the body as our
roadmap to the discovery of the Infinite and to reach our real potential
as human beings on this earth. Uncovering the conditioning of the mind
and discovering the ways in which we limit ourselves, we then begin to
unravel our limitations and connect with a divine force that leads us
to more than we can ever imagine for ourselves!
Teaching is a lifelong process requiring dedication, passion, self-study,
compassion and a desire to help others. The tools in this course are designed
to help individuals expand their knowledge of the yogic system, deepen
their commitment to their own practice and study and thereby share it
with others safely and effectively.
This course is intended to be a practical program for dedicated students
interested in either beginning to teach or as a way to deepen one's understanding
and experience of yoga. One does not have to intend on teaching to reap
the benefits of this course. When one learns the "behind the scenes" of
constructing a class, hands on adjustments and all of the topics we will
be covering, one's own understanding of yoga and its practice will
be greatly enriched.

Nikki Estrada Nikki began her yoga practice in 1993 while studying at U.C. Santa Barbara. She immediately fell in love with the practice and after graduating went to Mysore, India where she studied Ashtanga under Pattabhi Jois for three months. After several years of dedicated practice, she completed Erich Schiffmann and Sarah Powers' teacher training programs. Her continued interest in all aspects of the yoga practice has led her to study with different teachers from different disciplines, including Anusara Yoga with John Friend, and many workshops and trainings with Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Viniyoga teachers. Her real passion for the practice comes from a synthesis of all of these disciplines.
Her vinyasa (flowing) style of yoga emphasizes movement guided by breath, postures developed through alignment, and concentration through awareness. Every class is different, providing a challenging physical experience, while always maintaining an awareness of the core body and the heart center. By coming into the immediacy of the body and the energy flowing within, students are able to meet their edge both on and off the mat, which is the real heart of personal transformation.
