Laura Christensen, (Abbey – prior to being married in January, 2007), is a Certified Anusara Yoga Teacher and serves on the Anusara Yoga Certification Committee. Laura is known as a supportive, articulate and skilled teacher. Her classes leave students feeling empowered and inspired. She infuses her classes with a celebration of heart, optimal postural alignment, and community connection. She is enthusiastic about guiding students on a yogic path upon which their individual and unique potential can co-participate with the ever-present and ever-flowing gift of Grace to experience life as the fullest expression of joy. For Laura, the practice of yoga is about finding the sweet place in the middle in the heart, mind, body, and spirit where you can simultaneously experience and express raw power and strength married with equally intense doses of refined sweetness and beauty. She delights in helping students access the dynamic and unlimited source of potential that arises when these qualities harmoniously blend together.
Laura has been practicing and studying yoga for over 16 years. She was blessed to discover Anusara Yoga in 2000. Since then, much of her life and attention has been focused on the study of this elegant, yet fun system of yoga. It has been her great honor and blessing to study extensively and directly under her teacher John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. She is filled with gratitude for the hundreds of classes she has had with John and especially for the year she was able to apprentice with him on tour in 2005-2006. She has assisted him all over the US and throughout Europe in Workshops, Immersions and Teacher Trainings and has over 2,000 hours of direct study with John; thousands more with other Senior Certified Anusara Teachers, including her current mentor, Sianna Sherman. She's constantly learning and striving to deepen her practice and awareness of her connection to the greater whole. She continues to study with John Friend and Sianna Sherman and assist each of them in Workshops, Immersions and Trainings. She loves learning from everyone around her, especially her students and is dedicated to being a student first. She is passionate about passing on the amazing teachings that have been bestowed upon her.
